Album highlight : Koboku Senjû / Joining The Queue To Become One Of Those Ordinary Ghosts
Koboku Senjû, meaning something like a Selection of Dead Trees', is the quintet of Tetuzi Akiyama, Toshimaru Nakamura, Martin Taxt, Eivind Lønning, and Espen Reinertsen. Akiyama and Nakamura, on guitar and no input mixing board respectively, have long been two of the leading improvisers from the Tokyo scene, and Lønning, Reinertsen and Taxt, on trumpet, saxophone and tuba respectively, are three young and active improvisers from Norway with an increasing reputation for their adventurous yet mature musicality.
MIE was started as a little record label based in London releasing LPs, EPs and CDrs from a couple of friends bands over in the States who were on a similar label to ours in Akron, Ohio, called Bark and Hiss. We then put on our first show at Cafe Oto in London in July 2010 before moving up to Manchester that August. We put on a load of shows up in Manchester and then started releasing a few records on vinyl before heading back down to London where we now reside. Its a one man operation just trying to release the music that I love.
