Philipp Schaufelberger

Philipp Schaufelberger (*1970 in Göttingen)
is a guitarist and composer deeply rooted in Jazz.
From the mid-nineties on, he worked as a sideman with internationally succesful groups and projects and had the chance to perform with the likes of Dewey Redman, Michael Brecker, Paul Motian and many others.
He is also a sought-for performer of contemporary classical works, e.g. as a longtime sit-in with the Ensemble für Neue Musik Zürich.
Philipp shares an old musical friendship with percussionist Pierre Favre, documented on two duo albums and several releases of Favre's own projects.
Other important ongoing collaborations are Dead Letter Office with Anna Trauffer and Christoph Coburger as well as the mini-jazzband Anthropology! with drummer Christian Wolfarth.
As a composer, PS has created the scores for many radio-dramas for Swiss and German National broadcast and was comissioned for works by different contemporary ensembles, the latest being Hello Mellow Tone for the Ensemble für Neue Musik Zürich in 2018.
He lives in Zürich with his wife and children.
