Nenne is an unconventional duo playing avant-garde electronic pop with Japanese lyrics. It is an unlikely meeting between the drummer, composer and producer Albert Karch and vocalist, composer Lo Ersare. Coming from modern jazz, folk, pop and free improv traditions, they readily create innovative formats by mixing genres and influences. They call their music “fairy-tale pop” or “underwater disco”.
Their debut album Underwater Disco is a conceptual, story-telling work with delicate ambiences meeting catchy melodies and strong, electronic rhythms.
The story behind the album is a tale of a little fairy born on a lily flower. She fell asleep while looking at the stars once, and in her dream she danced with them, slowly falling down on Earth together with the stars. Suddenly, she got trapped in a drop of dew and found an underwater music party with jellyfish and sea creatures. She woke up surrounded by those little droplets. The album is released together with a picture book telling that story, by the Polish artist Anna Krztoń.
