Claus Højensgård / Emanuele Maniscalco / Nelide Bandello

The music of høbama draws a direct inspiration from the European and American free jazz of the sixties and seventies - especially from the smaller free "chamber ensembles" of such individuals as Jimmy Giuffre, Paul Bley, or Steve Swallow. It can be described as a journey through an improvised landscapes with short stops at themes and compositions. The trio was born in spring of 2016 during the Danish composer and trumpeter Claus Højensgård’s two-years stay in Bologna in Italy. And from there the Scandinavian airiness and the Italian subtleties merged into a fresh new hybrid. Do you hear it?
