Slur

Percussion – Roger Turner
Piano – Veryan Weston
Soprano Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone – John Butcher
Voice, Liner Notes – Phil Minton

As well as putting this quartet together in the mid-1990s, Phil Minton has been working with the other three musicians in duos. The quartet initially performed utilising texts from James Joyce's 'Finnegans Wake', as can be heard on their previous Victo CD. Back again a decade later, they are now improvising without using any known words - an improvising super-group. 50 minutes.
Excerpts from sleeve notes:

The quartet was formed about twelve years ago to perform MOUTHFULL OF ECSTASY (Victo 041) an instrumental and vocal impression of James Joyce’s ‘Finnegans Wake’. I thought about singing words on this CD, but then decided: What’s the point?
