The beginning of the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra was a workshop with Evan Parker during the 2002 RadiCCAIs festival at the Centre for the Contemporary Arts in Glasgow. Since then we have worked with George Lewis , Barry Guy, Maggie Nichols and many others for cd's on FMR, and found our way of doing things. One of the many good things about being in this band is creating new work with musicians from a wide range of backgrounds, including Jazz, contemporary classical and experimental pop.

The six pieces here present the virtuoso saxophonist in tantalising exchanges with the 21 strong orchestra and provide wonderfully engaging improvisations recorded in both Munich and Glasgow.
